John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs he composed, the majority of which were situated in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in love with Colorado and eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's state anthems are a source of inspiration for people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, stated: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado in the same way as John Denver." Denver is the Hall of Fame's initial inductee, was honoured with this honor in 2011. Denver has been the symbol of Colorado for everyone around the world. In my travels, I've met individuals who are from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform them you're from Colorado, the first words they'll use are"Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 singles after performing with smaller folk groups. It was co-written by and performed by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version and knew it would become a top 10 hit. The song was first recorded several weeks after it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
